Today is February 14 - yes Valentine’s Day but also National Donor Day. National Donor Day was established in 1998 by the Saturn Corporation and its partner, the United Auto Workers Union. With support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the day aimed to educate the public about the life-saving importance of organ, eye, tissue, marrow, platelet, and blood donations. The choice of Valentine’s Day was symbolic, highlighting the ultimate act of love: giving someone a second chance at life. (https://responsumhealth.com/blog/national-donor-day-february-14-2025/) Next Wednesday - Feb. 19, 2025, WHS Student Council is hosting a Blood Drive. If you would like to donate blood please reach out to Mrs. Miller (cmiller@winchesterschools.net) or Mrs. Barnett. (lbarnett@winchesterschools.net). Thank you.

February is Heart Awareness month. This year we want to celebrate it with Hearts for Samara. Samara is a WHS Senior and had a Heart Transplant the summer of 2023. At this time she is having some medical issues with her heart and will be making many trips to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. You can purchase a Heart for $1.00 in the school offices during the month of February. You can put your name and/or a message to her on the heart and we will be posting them around the school for her. All proceeds will go to Samara to help with travel expenses.
