About Us

 What is the Foundation?
  • The Scott County Community Unit School District No. 1 Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1997 to enhance the educational experience of students in CUSD #1.

  • It operates independently of the School District (CUSD #1) and is governed by a volunteer board of alumni, parents, school district officers, community and business leaders.

 Why are Funds Needed?
  • With education costs rising every year, this foundation can help our students to improve and increase their education and to develop the leaders of tomorrow. The Foundation is also intended to increase public awareness of the needs of the schools district and to show how the quality of education can be improved to benefit the community as a whole. This is especially beneficial in today's world where our small communities are facing a constant threat of extinction.
How Will the Funds be Used?

Monies received will be used to support a variety of opportunities and ongoing programs for the advancement of our students.

  • The school staff will submit applications to the Foundation requesting grants for educational opportunities that are beyond the scope and resources of tax funds.
  • The foundation also administers the Mary R. Borg Scholarship for qualified graduating Winchester High School seniors who plan to pursue a career in the field of education.

What Can I Do?
Gifts of any size are always appreciated. Tax deductible donations may be made as a one time gift or over a period of years if desired.
