Dear Parents / Guardians:
As we head into the winter season, we undoubtedly will face inclement weather days when school is in session. Most days we will be in school or will cancel school to ensure student/employee safety. We have a third option which is a two- hour delayed start. The delayed start will only be used if conditions are expected to improve significantly between 5AM and 9AM. Examples would be extremely cold temperatures, icy roads, freezing rain, or blowing/drifting snow.
Under the two-hour delay start scenario, parents will be notified the same way they do now through School Messenger, TV and radio. If a delayed start is being considered, parents will be notified the night before.
• A two-hour delayed start means school will start at 10:20 instead of 8:20. If your normal bus pickup is 7:15 – it will be 9:15 under delayed start.
• Morning Pre-K will not meet; Afternoon Pre-K will be in session as normal.
• Breakfast will NOT be served; lunch will be at normal times.
• School will be dismissed at the usual time.
A delayed start to school will not occur frequently, but we want everyone to be prepared.
