Parents –
The school bus driver shortage is not only a national issue, it is also impacting our local district. Due to
the loss of multiple drivers this past year, the district developed a contingency plan in the event enough
drivers could not be employed. The district continues to advertise for school bus drivers but has had little
or no interest. We are also seeing fewer students utilizing the bus service.
We have consolidated our routes this year because of this. Each route may be longer than last year
depending on the actual number of bus riders and their location. We have also modified some pick up
and drop off points to help us minimize the actual time spent on the bus.
Each bus may also have more bus riders. However, all buses will be under the maximum capacity of the
bus.
Ideally, we would be operating our full fleet of buses for this school year. While not perfect, our plan
continues to provide transportation for all students who need it and minimizes the time students have to
spend on the bus.
Thank you for your patience while we work out all the details. We will continue to monitor the situation
and make changes as needed.
