The Illinois School Report Card was released today with each public school in the state receiving a designation of Exemplary, Commendable, Underperforming, or Lowest-Performing.  This is the first time this has been done which is part of the new Illinois ESSA Plan. Our school report card can be accessed under Quicklinks on the bottom right of the district website.  There is also a letter on the front page of the website with more information about our school report card.

PARCC is no longer the standardized test use by the state of Illinois.  ISBE has partnered with Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) to provide a computer adaptive assessment that returns results within 30 days.  This new testing will begin next spring.

The Parent 5Essentials Survey is now available on the district website under Quicklinks.  This survey, along with the teacher and student surveys coming out November 15th, is part of the ISBE ESSA Plan that we will conduct annually.  All surveys will be available until Jan. 18th.

All students required to have physicals and vaccinations updated by October 15th have met the deadline.

Scott County Food Inspection Reports have been completed on the WGS kitchen and the WHS satellite kitchen.  There were no violations. We had had a surprise IDOT Bus Inspection recently. The only violation was with bus #9 not having a number on the front grill.  The front grill was replaced on #9 last spring and we had no replacement number for it.

The old gym bleachers were pulled out of the bus barn and hauled away thanks to Steve Weder and his backhoe.  75-100 old metal desks were also hauled away. These are desk that no one wants and are taking up valuable storage space.

The City if Winchester is pursuing a Safe Routes to School Grant and WGS has assisted in gathering data.  Two surveys and a letter of support have been completed for the grant application.

The following motions were approved at the October 9th School Board Meeting:

  1. Opening of closed minutes from January - June 2018

  2. Use of facilities - softball pitching / IREC annual meeting

  3. Resignations:  Patty Robbins - certified aide, Adam Brockhouse - WGS boys basketball assistant

  4. Employed: Jenna Lawson - certified aide, Adam Little - WGS boys basketball coach, Todd Chapman - WGS boys basketball assistant, Wes Lashmett - volunteer bass fishing coach, Kelsi Maynard - WCC softball assistant coach
