WHS Staff Highlight - Mrs. Angie Heberling

Next up for New Teacher November is Mrs. Heberling.  Although Mrs. Heberling is new to WHS, she is no stranger to education with 17 years experience as a special education teacher!

Before she became a West Central Cougar, Mrs. Heberling spent a majority of her life as a Panther growing up in Jerseyville and eventually working as a teacher in the Jerseyville School District. During her college years, she took a brief pause from her feline mascot roots while she was a MacMurray College Highlander and an Illinois State University Redbird.

Mrs. Heberling describes her time at MacMurray as one of her greatest challenges.  She worked her way through college, working at night to accommodate her class schedule.  On top of that, she also commuted to Mac (in Jacksonville) from Jerseyville every day, which was an hour both ways!  Luckily she loves always listening to music and had plenty of time to listen on her car trips. She also had a job pumping gas and washing windows at a gas station as a teenager, which I’m sure she had to do quite often with all that driving!

Even with all the traveling back and forth during college, Mrs. Heberling still loves to travel, especially with family!  Her favorite place she’s visited is Key West because of the beautiful weather. However, if you’re looking for a teacher appreciation gift and you can’t afford to send Mrs. Heberling to Florida, chocolate chip cookies are your best bet as she can’t seem to resist them!

Much like the Florida sun or a gooey chocolate chip cookie, Mrs. Heberling exudes warmth and kindness.  She strives to “try to be a light to others.” and she’s been most inspired by her Grandma June. Mrs. Heberling considers herself upbeat, humorous, and helpful.  Walk in to her classroom on any given day and you are sure to hear laughter and see smiles from both teacher and students.

Welcome to WHS, Mrs. Heberling!
