WHS Staff Highlight - Mrs. Megan Davis

It is New Teacher November at Winchester High School for our next several WHS Staff Highlights and first up is our new PE teacher, Mrs. Davis.  A WHS graduate herself, Mrs. Davis had no plans of coming back to Winchester after high school, but she is back and “proud to be a part of the West Central family once again!”

With only three months on the job, Mrs. Davis says that her biggest challenge at this moment in life is becoming a teacher.  However, she thinks all obstacles seem big in the moment, but once you surpass them they seem so minor. Her teaching job is definitely different than her work in the business world, but she is loving the challenge and enjoys that the students keep her on her toes every day.  It sounds like Mrs. Davis is living out the advice she would tell her 14 year old self, which is to “Be true to yourself, don’t be so afraid to speak your mind and try new things.”

Mrs. Davis brings a wealth of experience and excellent personal qualities to her new teaching job and her side gig as the West Central Girls’ Track and Field Coach.  During college, she competed on the North Central Women’s Track and Field Team while earning her Bachelor's degree in Management and Marketing and also working as a student manager at the on-campus Starbucks.  She describes herself as hardworking, determined, and gracious, which are all qualities you would expect of a college athlete juggling school, sports, and work.

Speaking of juggling, Mrs. Davis is an expert.  Between her new job and coaching, she also has a seven month old baby girl, Brooklynn, and a dog, Ellie, with her husband Nate.  (Nate just so happens to be a WHS grad as well and the West Central Golf coach!) It almost goes without saying that Mrs. Davis could not live without a warm cup of coffee--in addition to her family, of course!

Besides loving her family, she also loves dark chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, and--you guessed it--chocolate.  You might find her eating chocolate while binge watching her favorite TV show, The Office, or an Anne Hathaway movie.  During the warmer months, you’ll likely run into her doing her favorite activity--boating on the river!  It might surprise you that during the colder months Mrs. Davis is a big fan of Fantasy Football.

Having a bad day?  Find Mrs. Davis. She wants to be remembered for “being an influencer of happiness.”  When she’s not with her PE classes, you can usually find her smiling face at the top of the stairs on the northeast side of the second floor greeting students during passing periods.

Welcome back to WHS, Mrs. Davis!
