Three WHS Students receive the Salute to Academic Achievement Award
Three Winchester High School seniors, Hunter Coultas, Isabella Hoots, and Carson Smith, were recently selected to receive the Salute to Academic Achievement (SAA) Award offered by the University of Illinois System. Students are nominated for the SAA Award because of their high SAT scores and GPAs. SAA Awardees were invited to attend a luncheon in Chicago where they received their certificate along with application fee waivers for all three University of Illinois campuses. In addition to the luncheon, there was a college fair with representatives from the different colleges/departments at each campus and a Q&A panel with current students at each campus. Hunter and Carson were both able to attend and enjoyed a quick sight seeing walk to the nearby Cloud Gate sculpture commonly know as “the bean.” Congratulations to all three students on their academic successes so far!
