Archeology Field School

Have you wondered why there are student digging on the east side of the high school? Dr. Coonrod's Archeology class is excavating a small mid-late nineteenth century historic site that was discovered when the pollinator garden was plowed up last year. It was the perfect spot for student to practice some hands on archeology as an end of the year project. They are currently excavating test unit in an attempt to locate any features (ie. a cellar, cistern, well, privy).  So far, they have encountered an artifact rich midden that yielded a broken ceramics and bottles, a shell button, a folding knife, a butter knife, a bullet cartridge, and a decorative ladies hair comb.
