The Jacksonville Regional Economic Development Corporation (JREDC) in partnership with the Scott County Development Corporation (SCDC) is pursuing a new enterprise zone which includes parts of Winchester and Scott County. The driving force for this new enterprise zone is the ethanol plant projected to come to the Oxville area north of I-72. The ethanol company is requesting a 10-year property tax abatement and the enterprise zone is a mechanism to make this happen. The Winchester BOE will consider a resolution of support at their December meeting.
We are working with Wendelin Consulting Group on improving our use of technology in the classroom. Wendelin will conduct a needs assessment then formulate a plan to work with individual teachers in the classroom on technology integration.
The WGS copier lease expires in February. We are replacing the Minolta copier in the teacher break room but will also place a second Minolta copier in the vacant primary classroom to better serve that end of the building. We are replacing the Lexmark copier and fax machine in the WGS office with a new Lexmark that will do both. Finally, two Lexmark copiers in the ELC will be replaced with one new model. Installation day is December 14th!
