Students in Dr. Coonrod's Anthropology/Archeology class took a trip to the Old School Museum here to learn about Winchester's rich pre-historic and historic past. Students undertook a scavenger hunt in the museum, and then went below to the basement where they conducted a lab. The basement houses a large collection of archeologically recovered stoneware. The stoneware was manufactured nearby at the George Ebey and Thomas Kilpatrick kiln site sometime around 1838-1840 and was excavated by Dr. Coonrod several years ago in conjunction with the museum. As part of the lab student sorted and analyzed stoneware fragments, creating an inventory and a minimum vessel count of their particular sample.
