April Superintendent Newsletter

Winchester CUSD #1 Monthly Newsletter

April 3, 2018

The three administrators and Angie Slagle attended a workshop on March 13th on the Evidence Based Model of funding schools and how it works with the Every Student Succeeds Act.

We had a WGS Kitchen Inspection on 2/15/18 and a Satellite Food Service Inspection at WHS on 2/28/18.  Both passed with no follow-up visit needed.

Our recessed lockers at WGS have a small opening around the top frame that could become a possible hazard.  Locker & Storage Systems, who installed the recessed lockers, will add a metal trim behind the top frame of these lockers this summer.

Kiefer USA is willing to touch-up the gym floor and put on a new finish.  They are willing to extend our warranty another year to make sure we are satisfied.

The trend among several area schools is to have a 6:00pm start for all JH/HS gym contest.  It is 6:15pm now. Our A.D.s, coaches, and administration are all in favor of this change as it would get student-athletes home earlier on school nights.

13 of 22 (59%) referenda questions dealing with public school districts in Illinois passed during the March 20th election.
