The WGS Renovation Project is moving forward with many aspects of the project approved at the Feb. 14th School Board Meeting. Most of the work will be completed over the summer break with some work beginning this spring. A list of the parts of the project approved are at the bottom of this newsletter.
Because March 13th -17th looks to be a full week break that means Friday, March 10th will be a 2:15 Dismissal for the end of the 3rd Quarter. Thursday, April 13th will now be a 2:15 Dismissal for Easter Break.
SB550 requires the testing of water sources in schools for lead. However, ISBE is advising school districts to hold off on any testing until guidance is completed by IDPH. We will be required to test the water at WGS before the end of 2017.
Ringold Financial Management Services (Chicago) has been contracted by ISBE to review school lunch programs throughout the state. In our review, Ringold has stated that our lunch prices are too low. Our current lunch prices are: K-3 = $1.50 and 4-12 = $2.00. We will have a recommendation this spring to increase these prices.
At the February Board Meeting, approval was given to demolish the white house at 183 S. Elm. Salvageable items will be removed and the house will be taken down this spring. Bus #11, the oldest bus in our fleet, will also be sold in the near future.
We now have a recycle bin for flattened cardboard at WHS courtesy of Pathway Services.
