A Special School Board Meeting was held on November 29th to work toward finalizing a Health, Life, & Safety Amendment for WGS.  Although the amendment has not been approved yet, the board hopes to finalize the amendment at the December 13th meeting.

There will be a public hearing before the Dec. 13th School Board Meeting for the purpose of receiving public comment about the proposed waiver to allow the children of non-resident full-time employees to attend Winchester Schools tuition-free.

I attended the Morgan-Scott CEO Board Meeting on November 17th.  There are 14 seniors in the class this year and 5 are from WHS.  The CEO Program is working to renew 3-year investor commitments for 2017-2020 and hopes to add 10-15 new investors to provide the funding to operate the program.

I attended Round #3 of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Listening Tour at JHS on November 28th.  ESSA goes into effect next school year and replaces No Child Left Behind (NCLB).  Our final ESSA State Plan is set to be presented to ISBE on March 15th and then sent to the U.S. Dept. of Education by April 3rd.

The Teacher Consultation Meeting held before the November 15th Board Meeting was the most positive consultation meeting in some time!

Cole Ranson, senior AG/FFA student, presented the board a check for $4,320 which is the district’s share of the profit on the district farmland for this year.

About half of Lenovo Touchscreen Chromebooks have arrived.  We have also ordered several Chromebooks for employee use and for them to checkout when attending workshops.

The Food Services Inspection on Oct. 28th garnered a perfect 100 score.

The following motions were approved at the November 15th School Board Meeting:

  1. Installation of a locker room in the Pritchett Building by the football & baseball programs

  2. Use of facilities for Post Prom on April 29th-30th

  3. Candy Miller’s rescindment of her resignation from Scholastic Bowl
