October Superintendent Newsletter

Winchester CUSD #1 Monthly Newsletter

October 1, 2016.

Congratulations to Mrs. Laura Dukett on her selection as WGEM Golden Apple award winner.  Laura was interviewed and featured on WGEM-TV this past week.  Laura was nominated by a WHS student and has recently announce her retirement at the end of this school year.

WHS Homecoming is Oct. 3rd-8th.  Besides the many student activities and dance there will be a dedication of our new electronic sign on Oct. 8th.  The 1965 WHS Football Team will also be honored at the football game Friday night.

I have met with CTS Group and we have placed a Request For Proposals (RFP) with the Capital Development Board and an RFP was also in the SC Times about a possible HVAC project at WGS.  The RFP is to allow any performance contracting companies, including CTS Group, to be considered for our possible project.  We are not under any obligation to move forward at this time but this is the next step if we do.  RFPs will be opened October 3rd.

Ron Coultas, Andy Stumpf, and I went with John Loraine from CTS Group to tour Triopia Schools and Lincoln Elementary School in Jacksonville.  Both projects were impressive.  I think it inspired us even more to do some similar upgrades at WGS.

PAT hosted a Grandparents Breakfast at WGS on September 15th.  It was quite successful with the entry line outside the front doors at one point.  PAT, Mr. Stumpf, and the entire staff were great host and it was evident that the grandparents enjoyed their visit.

The principals and I met with a representative from Springfield Pepsi recently.  Our 15-year Pepsi contract runs out in December.  We have finalized a new 7-year agreement.
