What is "Wolverine Pride"?

Wolverine Pride has joined forces with 4Rivers to bring PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to Winchester!  Wolverine Pride will model, teach, reinforce and reteach the expectations at Winchester Grade School.

We are committed to empowering all students to meet high expectations by creating a respectful and positive learning environment.  Through our Tier I Universal Level, students who demonstrate appropriate behaviors will be recognized with positive consequences on both an immediate and long-term basis.  The program will include expectations of:

  • Respect Self
  • Respect Time
  • Respect Others
  • Respect Property

Each setting will contain expectations the students will follow.  Students have been taught the expectations through modeling and instruction. Acknowledgement of the expectations are given daily through our Wolverine Pride chart.

As our Tier II intervention, we use "Check-in/Check-out" (CICO).  This program is for students who continue to receive detentions while using Wolverine Pride.  To assist students in appropriate behavior, they will "check-in" with a teacher at the beginning of the day and "check-out" with that same teacher at the end of the day.  The intent is that students will receive positive reinforcement at the beginning of the day, track behavior for documentation and accountability throughout the day, and receive more positive feedback at the end of the day.  This has shown success!
